1. Delegated Authority
The Vice President for Student Life is responsible for overseeing the general health and welfare of the students at the Seattle campus of the University of Washington. The responsibilities include campus safety; nonacademic services for students; extra-classroom learning opportunities; supervision of the activities of student organizations; student conduct and discipline; assistance to students with personal, social, and adjustment challenges; and advice to the President, the chancellors, and other University officers in these matters.
2. Student Life Units
The Vice President for Student Life oversees the following units on the UW Seattle campus:
A. Counseling Center
Offers individual, couple, and group counseling services to enrolled students who need help resolving personal issues that may interfere with their academic success.
B. Career Center
Provides career and job search services to students and alumni.
C. Student Activities and the Husky Union Building
Offers student leadership opportunities, facilities management, student programs, special events, and hosts University and third-party services.
D. Community Standards and Student Conduct (CSSC)
Administers the student conduct code and provides support and guidance to the campus community in maintaining the highest standards of ethics and integrity.
E. Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life
Acts as a liaison between the University and the individually owned and operated fraternities and sororities associated with the lnterfraternity Council and Panhellenic Association and assists in the administration and coordination of the Recognition Agreements between each Greek house and the University.
F. Recreational Sports Programs
Provides a comprehensive program of sports, fitness, and recreational activities designed to meet student needs and interests and manages a variety of recreational facilities.
G. Student Publications
Provides financial and administrative support for various student publications, including The Daily and the Visitors Guide.
H. Disability Resources for Students (DRS)
Works collaboratively with students with disabilities to ensure equal access for students with permanent or temporary disabilities to University courses, programs, facilities, services, and activities by providing or arranging reasonable accommodations, academic adjustments, auxiliary aids and services, training, consultation, and technical assistance.
I. UW Police Department
Provides police services to the University community on a 24-hour basis. The primary responsibility of the department is to ensure that the UW Seattle campus and nearby vicinity remains a safe and lawful place for students, employees, and visitors of the University.
J. Housing and Food Services (HFS)
Manages all University housing facilities on the UW Seattle campus, including residence halls, single-student apartments, and family housing apartments; operates numerous food service facilities including restaurants, convenience stores, cafes, espresso bars, and a full-service catering group; and manages Conference Services and the Husky ID Card office that oversee the Student U-PASS, the Husky Card Account, and the Resident Dining Program.
K. Office of Ceremonies
Plans and executes the University’s commencement, convocation, and other large-scale public ceremonies which honor students and involve faculty, staff, visitors, and the student body at the University.
L. Health and Wellness
Provides tools and resources to help students maintain their physical and emotional well-being.
M. Office of Student Veteran Life
Provides access to University resources specifically designed for veterans through direct service and referrals to a number of campus and community resources with the goal of helping veterans balance their academic and personal demands.
N. Q Center
Provides a resource center dedicated to serving University students, faculty, staff, and alumni of all sexual and gender orientations, identities, and expressions.
O. Parent and Family Programs
Helps parents and families stay connected and engaged with the University. Plans and welcomes parents and families to campus for Parent & Family Weekend.
P. International Student Engagement
Provides programs and activities dedicated to supporting international and exchange students during their transition to life at the University.
