1. Action by the Provost and Executive Vice President or the Executive Vice President for Finance & Administration

In connection with their areas of authority, the Provost and Executive Vice President and the Executive Vice President for Finance & Administration, or their designees, are each authorized to act for the President of the University in requesting the Attorney General’s Office to commence legal actions on behalf of the University or the Board of Regents whenever such actions are intended to advance or protect the interests of the University, provided that no litigation shall be instituted against a public entity or official or in exercise of the power of eminent domain without consultation with the President and the Chair of the Board of Regents, or if the Chair is unavailable, the Vice Chair of the Board of Regents.

2. Action by the Vice President for Student Life

The Vice President for Student Life, or his or her designee, is authorized to act for the President of the University in requesting the Attorney General’s Office to commence legal actions on behalf of the University or the Board of Regents to enforce the terms of leases or agreements with tenants in University-managed student housing facilities.
