APS 46.4 – Statements to Ensure Equal Opportunity and Reasonable Accommodation

1.  Purpose

Notice of equal opportunity and reasonable accommodation is required in print and online University publications, course information, applications, and advertisements of University programs, services, and activities that are made available to students, employees, applicants, program participants, and the public. This policy also designates the University offices that are responsible for establishing acceptable statements and taglines for notice of equal opportunity and reasonable accommodations in accordance with state and federal law.

2.  Scope

Use of acceptable statements and taglines is required on all publications, including course and program information, employment, applications, and advertisements of University programs, services, and activities.

3.  Roles and Responsibilities

A.   Office of the ADA Coordinator

The Office of the ADA Coordinator establishes statements and taglines to provide notice of disability access and accommodations to University programs, services, and activities. Acceptable statements are available on the Office of the ADA Coordinator website.

B.   Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action

The Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action (EOAA) establishes statements and taglines to provide equal opportunity and nondiscrimination in admission and employment, including internal and external job postings. Acceptable statements and taglines are available on the EOAA website.

C.   Office of the University Registrar

The Office of the University Registrar establishes statements to provide notice of exceptions for religious absence(s). Acceptable statements are available on the Office of the University Registrar website.

Alterations to acceptable statements or taglines must be approved by the appropriate responsible offices prior to use.
