SGP 201 Extracurricular Participation

General eligibility requirements for participation in extracurricular activities shall include:

  1. In order to participate in a voluntary student organization and/or organized intramural competition, a student must:
    1. Be an admitted and currently registered student, and not declared ineligible through disciplinary sanctions as outlined in the Student Conduct Code;
    2. Comply with policies and procedures as outlined in “The Manual of Policies and Procedures for Voluntary Student Organizations;” and
    3. Comply with eligibility regulations as outlined in the Associated Students University of Washington Constitution and Bylaws and/or by the Department of Intramural Activities when appropriate.
  2. In order to participate in the Associated Students University of Washington (ASUW) and/or the Graduate and Professional Student Senate (GPSS), a student must:
    1. Be an admitted and currently registered student and not declared ineligible through disciplinary sanctions as outlined in the Student Conduct Code;
    2. Comply with eligibility requirements as outlined in the ASUW Constitution, Board of Control Bylaws, and/or GPSS Constitution and Bylaws (enrolled for a minimum of seven credit hours for all students, except medical and dental which is 13).
  3. In order to participate in intercollegiate athletics, a student must:
    1. Be an admitted and currently registered student and not declared ineligible through disciplinary sanctions as outlined in the Student Conduct Code.
    2. Be registered for a minimum of 12 degree credit hours during the season of competition, and, other than freshmen, must have earned not fewer than 36 hours in degree credit courses between the start of the current season in his or her sport and the start of the preceding season in such sport, or since the start of the last season in which he or she competed. The 12 degree credit hours requirement may be waived for a student in his or her final quarter of his or her baccalaureate program provided that the Registrar certifies the student is carrying for credit the courses necessary to complete the degree requirements. Only one such waiver shall be granted to a student; and
    3. Comply with eligibility requirements and regulations of appropriate governing agencies of which the University of Washington is a member, e.g., Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW), National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Northwest College Women’s Sports Association (NCWSA), Pacific-12 Conference.
